Bass trombonist Todd Brubaker has been playing since the 4th grade, when he was informed that the trumpet was not the appropriate instrument for him. Todd enlisted in the United States Marine Corps field band program in 1987, and for 10 years performed all over the world as a bass trombonist and tubist with the field band, brass quintet, jazz band, and trombone quintet. Todd had the opportunity to be stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 3 years during his Marine Corps career, during which time he performed in Japan, Australia, Cambodia, Russia, and South Korea.
After "graduating" from the Marines in 1997, Todd moved to Fort Collins, CO, where he held the bass trombone positions in the Denver-based Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, the Ft. Collins Wind Symphony, the Loveland Orchestra and the brass quartet . . . Fort Collins Four.
In September 2015, Todd was transferred to the Atlanta area with his "day job" as a contract security program manager, and he currently plays with Big Band Atlanta, the Gwinnett Symphonic Wind Orchestra, the Atlanta Trombone Ensemble and, of course, Zephyr Instrumental.
